Apple Introduces Boot Camp

Apple does it. Very interesting for Apple to come at it this way. Windows users are used to a little more pre-announcements than Mac users. Quite a development.


Business Week review of MacBook Pro and new Mini

It’s kind of a drive-by review, but the gist is that there are speed gains. The reviewer cites Handbrake encoding of video for an iPod as a real-world example of an almost 2x speed bump.

It’s been interesting over the past few years to see the press change from “Apple is Dying” to “Hey, screw your work computer, get something fun for home use”.


Virtualization of MacBook Pro laptops here already?

According to a Techworld.com report, a Russian company is planning to release software that will allow Linux, Mac OS X and Windows to run on a machine at the same time:

“This is not simply a “dual-boot” but instead gives our users the ability to use Windows or any other operating system at the same time as Mac OS X, enabling users to enjoy the comfort of their Mac OS X desktop while still being able to use critical applications from other OSes.”

Could be interesting, more details later this week.


MacBook Pro write up

Longtime Mac writer Bob LeVitus reviews Logic Pro (the first Pro app to go Universal!) and a cherried MacBook Pro. I have an audio engineer friend who slams Logic at every turn. I wonder if this setup is in his future…
